Planta Dos Deuses

I just don’t think Markus would be into some loony cult like Planta Dos Deuses. He was too rational for that kind of thing. Check out their site at http://www.plantadosdeuses.org/ - it’s not really scientific, is it?

They appear in his notebook just above his idea for “messages in life”, so maybe he stumbled across their website as well, and just had some inspiration from it. I’m not sure about that, though–their front page has the name “Cacta de los Cuatro Vientos”, which seems to be this plant:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echinopsis_pachanoi

It’s used in traditional medicine, and science has showed that it does have some effects e.g. against bacteria. So it could be part of the story about drug research and the allegations of biopiracy. There’s no more mention of it on their website, though. I’ve e-mailed them to try to find out if it’s special to them–I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Plus, you say it’s not scientific, but whoever designed the logo on the front page at least knew what the four bases of DNA were. That’s not exactly a secret, but the fact that they chose to use it makes me think that they might have some appreciation of science.

    Hi again

I could be way off here, but I am not so sure this is a ‘religious’ group, as such. Let me explain:

They don’t mention God(s). There are no immediately obvious religious symbols (not that I am an expert, so please don’t berate me if I have missed something!) and the image on the home page is very scientific, based around the double helix and DNA bases.

I wonder if the “Creative Force”, of which they speak, is DNA. Look again at the 5 mission statements:

1.The Creative Force is responsible for all Creation
2.The Force can be found inside all Flora and Fauna
3.The code of Creation contains the Meaning of Life
    4.Everything in Nature is linked
5.Learning how to read the messages in Nature is the Key to Life

All of these are true for the genetic code, right?

So perhaps we need to try and get in touch with the founders (Davi Pereira, Yara Silva, Matt Sullivan and Kylie Gladman). Considering Planta Dos Deuses been going since 3rd May 2003, there is very little info on the web.

Well, I hope we get a breakthrough soon.
    Kxx

I’ve heard back from them–it seems the Cacto de los Cuatro Vientos has a spiritual meaning for them: “From the North and South we must dwell
in the physical world, and from the East and West we must open ourselves
to the Deep Truths that hide beneath. Contemplation of this Cosmic Harmony
    is its own reward.”

They also say that they are waiting for its blossoming. I’ve asked them more about that.

I’m reminded of the film “I, Robot”, with “You must ask the right questions.”

Plus what are the numbers on the side of the screen?

00221 at the homepage then 00514 on all the others…

I think it’s meant to be how many people have visited the site? not quite sure why they’re not the same.. maybe its how many people in the group?
